Training Knife V2
I created this training knife out of a passion for self-defense and a desire for a more aesthetically pleasing option. Existing training knives on the market didn't meet my expectations, especially when it came to the blade marking system. Many relied on specialized chalk that needed constant reapplication and was difficult to find. In response, I designed this knife modeled after tanto and incorporated a unique blade marking system. Instead of relying on the specialized chalk, it utilizes everyday marker cartridges, making it more accessible and practical. With this design, I aimed to provide a visually appealing and functional training knife for self-defense enthusiasts like myself.
After identifying several key issues with the first model, I embarked on creating a second iteration of the training knife. The initial version, constructed from hard plastic, proved to be brittle and prone to snapping under certain forces. Additionally, inserting the blade and cartridge into the body was cumbersome and often resulted in slippage. Moreover, the reliance on screws to hold all the parts together posed a safety issue. To address these concerns, I undertook a complete reconstruction of the knife while preserving the core concept. The new design employed a different approach, relying on friction to securely hold all the components in place, eliminating the need for screws. Furthermore, I opted to use a flexible filament for the construction of the knife. This material not only made the knife virtually indestructible but also provided a level of durability and resilience that surpassed the previous model.
